Everyone needs a platform to launch a satisfying career. At Monash, we give you the space and support to take your career in all kinds of exciting new directions. You’ll have access to quality research, infrastructure and learning facilities, opportunities to collaborate internationally, as well as the grants you’ll need to publish your work. We’re a university full of energetic and enthusiastic minds, driven to challenge what’s expected, expand what we know, and learn from other inspiring, empowering thinkers.

We’ve achieved an enviable reputation for research and teaching excellence in a short 50 years and are ranked among the world’s top universities. Monash University is one of the best global universities (ranked 44th, THE 2023, and 57th, QS 2023). It is also one of the world’s most global universities, with campuses across four continents, as well as the biggest in Australia, with 85,000 students from more than 160 countries.

The Faculty of Information Technology (FIT) is the only faculty within Australia’s prestigious Group of Eight universities dedicated to information technology, and is one of the largest faculties of its kind anywhere in the world. Because of its disciplinary focus and the areas in which it works the Faculty is by nature deeply collaborative, facilitating interdisciplinary ties that span the broader research community both within Monash and outside it.

Information systems research sits within the Digital Equity and Digital Transformation Discipline Group in the Department of Human-Centred Computing (HCC). The Department of Human-Centred Computing is one of three departments in FIT. It is Australia’s leading centre for human-centred computing with expertise spanning information systems to advanced visualization, learning analytics, interaction design, digital ethnography and inclusive technologies.

We have recently appointed a Professor in Information Systems, Professor Juliana Sutanto, to lead information systems research and education within the Faculty of IT and we are recruiting multiple Lecturers and Senior Lecturers to join the Faculty and work with her.

Monash University strongly advocates diversity, equality, fairness and openness. We fully support the gender equity principles of the Athena SWAN Charter and invite you to join us in celebrating women in STEMM

The Opportunity

You will contribute to Information Systems at Monash and help build capacity in the area, one the Faculty and Monash at large have identified as being of strategic importance. Additionally, you will have the important responsibility of contributing to the Faculty’s undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching, as well as providing leadership in the development of educational materials for HCC and Information Systems curricula.

The Department of HCC is looking for candidates who will be highly motivated, extremely creative, and also have highly developed analytical and communicative skills. To be successful in this role, you will require a doctoral qualification or equivalent in the relevant discipline with the knowledge and skills to produce high-quality research outputs, and the enthusiasm and skills to teach undergraduates and postgraduates.

Candidates for the Lecturer position should demonstrate excellent research potential and commitment to teaching. Candidates for the Senior Lecturer position will have an excellent publication record in the discipline, proven ability to attract external research income, and a track record in the design and delivery of teaching materials in a tertiary context.

The Benefits

A competitive remuneration package, including access to PhD scholarships, relocation travel, removal allowance, and visa support is available.

If you believe you fit this profile, we look forward to receiving your application!

This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

At Monash University, we are committed to being a Child Safe organisation. This position at the University will require the incumbent to hold a valid Working with Children Check.
