Description

The School of Cyber Studies at the University of Tulsa (TU) is seeking to hire two full-time open-rank tenure-track faculty in Cyber Studies beginning August 2022. As part of its new strategic plan, TU is building on its long history of excellence in cyber security, having recently established a new, interdisciplinary School of Cyber Studies to house undergraduate and graduate programs.  We welcome applicants from a wide variety of disciplinary backgrounds whose scholarly activity and teaching is centered on cyber studies. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, human and organizational security, digital transformation, trustworthy machine learning and analytics, and critical infrastructure protection. 
 
The successful candidate will possess a strong record of research and demonstrate clear potential for establishing a vibrant research program in cyber security that attracts external funding and enhances the reputation of TU’s School of Cyber Studies. The successful candidate will collaborate with current faculty to develop and teach courses for the BS in Cyber Security, in addition to teaching in graduate programs.  
 
Rank, salary and benefits are commensurate with academic qualifications, teaching and industry experience.  
The University of Tulsa has been a leader in cyber security research and education for over 20 years. TU has been a designated Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance and Cyber Defense Education by the federal government since 2000 and was one of the first 14 institutions awarded this distinction. TU also is recognized by the federal government as a CAE in IA Research and Cyber Operations. US News has ranked TU #23 nationally for cybersecurity academic programs. TU alumni are employed worldwide in leading roles among the private and public sectors as well as academia. 
 
Faculty from engineering, computer science, business, social sciences, law and more regularly teach courses and conduct research in cyber security in the School of Cyber Studies, which offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees. TU is a private university with approximately 4,000 undergraduate and graduate students in the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business, Engineering and Natural Sciences, Health Sciences, and Law. Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in discipline relevant to cyber studies by the time of appointment; 
  • Evidence of a research program in cyber studies with the potential to create high-impact research in cyber security that attracts sustainable levels of external funding and creates opportunities to mentor Ph.D. students in Cyber Studies; 
  • Evidence of a commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including an ability to teach courses in the B.S. in Cyber Security; 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a respectful manner with a diverse population of students, faculty and broader community.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Evidence of an on-going interest in interdisciplinary approaches to scholarship and teaching; 
  • Ability to teach technical courses in cyber security (including those that involve programming, system administration, incident response, or other areas of specialization).
